Preschool Writer

Position Summary

Big Bad Boo Animation Studios is seeking an experienced preschool Writer for a new 2D animated preschool series.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pitching new ideas to story editors and producers/directors
  • Working with existing premises and beat sheets to write detailed outlines, scripts and final drafts.
  • Taking scripts from idea to completion in a timely fashion
  • Taking notes from producers/directors and incorporating them into the script in a timely fashion
  • Contributing to writer meetings with ideas, storylines and character development as needed
  • Work closely with productions coordinators and pre-production team to deliver the show into animation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet strict deadlines
Requirements
  • Must have previous Children's writing experiences for animated TV shows, preferably on a comedy or action based show
  • Must have experience writing for the 3-5 age group, 7 minute episodes or equivalent
  • Strong story ideas, overall vision and attention to detail in dialogue
  • Familiarity with other cultures is a plus
  • Familiarity with what TV stations are looking for is a plus
  • University Degree or equivalent in Liberal Arts or other relevant field
  • Experience with Mac computers and Final Draft is a plus
  • Strong work ethic

Story Editor

Position Summary

Big Bad Boo Animation Studios is seeking an experienced preschool Story Editor for a new 2D animated preschool series.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and create a unique and uniform voice for the show and characters with creative execs
  • Act as Head Writer while managing writers, and assistant writers to develop story ideas, concepts and scripts
  • Manage the writing team's delivery, including developing story ideas with the writers to take scripts from premise to final draft.
  • Work with creative execs to maintain the vision of the series
  • Work closely with the writers on each draft of their story and script, providing feedback on the quality of their work, suggesting improvements and overseeing fixes
  • Have the ability to tell a story in a quick and clear way
  • Confers with production head regarding selection of writers and material
  • Ensure scripts are delivered on time and suitable for production with expected running times, and creative continuity
Requirements
  • MUST have 3+ years of experience writing for preschool series and come with a full portfolio of sample work.
  • MUST have a solid command of the English language, as well as knowledge and understanding of script structure, for an animated show and the editing process.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deliver on schedule

Executive Assistant

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant with at least 2+ years of experience to join our creative environment. This position will involve reception and supporting the senior management.

This position includes a variety of tasks for Big Bad Boo Studios and Oznoz.com, our online VOD platform. You assist on animated productions, manage the office and assist on Oznoz related tasks as well as senior management.

Key Responsibilities

This position has 3 components: Production Assistant on several animated productions, office management and executive assistant to the Directors/Producers.

Duties and support, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting production tasks for studio projects
  • General office management including answering phones, taking messages and greeting visitors
  • General Assistance in travel and schedule management for executive team
  • Managing office inventory and supplies
  • Office and Production Invoice Management
  • Assisting in the preparation of screenings, presentations and other meetings
  • Assisting in creating Marketing collateral, Press Releases and brochures
  • Coordinating client documents, content, materials and data tracking
  • Maintaining various production, film festival and marketing files
  • Updating and maintaining client reports
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Shipping materials and tapes to clients
  • Assisting in Quality Control for various cartoons and children’s properties

Requirements
  • MUST have 2+ years of experience in client-facing office administrative duties or similar, preferably in the children’s animation industry
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Strong computer proficiency including experience with iCal, Mail, MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, Keynote and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and make decisions
  • Detail oriented with the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • College Degree or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and follow-through skills
  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful and flexible

About

We are a young company looking for experienced team players that can add to the overall energy of the show and are willing to take direction, notes and work on tight deadlines. Our show is a comedy series based on the famous tales of “1001 Nights”. Episodes are 11 minutes in length and targeting an age group of 6-9.
